Ask for a floor plan, measurements, furnishing rules, prohibited items, and any supplied furniture. Knowing the actual space prevents overpacking and reduces difficult decisions on moving day.

Important documents

Bring identification, insurance cards, medical information, emergency contacts, advance directives, power-of-attorney documents, facility paperwork, and a current medication list. Keep originals in a secure folder that travels with the family.

Clothing and shoes
